The session

A mat session, mostly demonstration, on the prone subject who tucks his hands under his torso and will not give them up. It opens by recreating the scenario and showing why direct pulling fails and how some officer actions strengthen the subject’s defensive structure. It then works positional dominance, leverage, and structural manipulation to weaken resistance before attempting extraction, reducing the need to escalate with strikes or tools.

Co-presenting with Adam Kaufman (Austin Police Department), a Senior Police Officer, FTO, Mental Health Officer, and Special Response Team member who supports Austin Police Jiu-Jitsu through curriculum development and program evaluation, and previously worked with the National Policing Institute.
